It all started with an impregnated concept party for Kadayawan '07. Something that is not common to the Davao shores. Envisioning a "back to basics" one night event -- something that is suitable for the Davao crowd. A celebration with a purpose, hyped up objectives and non-stop partying. Definitely, something with an edge. Why not have a benefit event?
These are all the questions that kept on babbling like an endless ripple while organizing "EL BARANGAY PRIDE" A Reggae-Ska Acoustic Ensemble Dub Tribe Competition Serye UNo. Bringing back the island beats of the reggae genre to where it all started--ACOUSTIC!
Hype events wanted a unique competition amalgamated since, it brings the participating bands back to basics – to perform the reggae and ska in an acoustic nature. A simple acoustic guitar, acoustic bass, some percussion, horns, a good vocalist and back-up vocals will simply do the trick. They will perform one original composition as well as, cover songs. Participating bands will be given a stage to showcase their homegrown talent as well as, an opportunity to give these independent bands a bang in the local scene through our vision and support to them. And by golly, it turned out to be a BANG!
